Vol 12 No 3 (2026): NIU Journal of Social Sciences, Vol. 12 No. 3, September 2026

This edition of NIU Journal of Social Sciences focuses on Development Administration, Security Studies, Citizens Journalism, Religious Studies, Social Media Communication and Social Psychology.

One of the papers, in this issue, highlights the importance of trust in institutions, created through credible and transparent digital communication, which is reinforced by interactive dialogue, whereas misinformation erodes it. The paper, therefore, suggests that the government of Edo State focus on credible and timely communication, setting of digital fact-checking mechanisms, and sustaining citizens’ engagement to bolster their trust.

Another paper also identifies cruel administration, incompetence and inefficiency, corruption and extortion, reaction to self-failure, lack of accountability and impunity among others as causes of anger in public service. While the effects of anger on public service delivery include erosion of trust, decreased citizen participation, possibility of societal discontent and reform obstacle. The paper therefore, recommends enhanced communication, improved service quality promoting trust and emotional support as effective ways to management anger in the service.

Readers are advised to make proper use of the ideas presented by the various authors in this issue of NIU Journal of Social Sciences. Some of these papers are empirical in nature while others have theoretical base. Each of them focuses on one specific social and management problem or the other; trying to proffer solutions to them.
